Privacy Policy & Reality Check

Last Updated: 1/22/26

This isn’t a standard corporate privacy policy because crapacity today isn’t a corporation. It’s a project built by one human.

Here is the honest truth about how this site works, what happens to your data, and the risks involved in using it.

1. The "As-Is" Warning

Use this site at your own risk. This is an MVP (Minimum Viable Product). It might break. It might go down. It is provided "as is" without any warranties.

2. Google Analytics

I use Google Analytics on this site. It collects data on how you're interacting with the site.

Why? To see if the site is crashing, if pages are loading slowly, and how people are navigating the app.

What it does: It places a cookie on your browser to track basic usage stats. I use this data solely to improve usability and performance. I am not interested in tracking you across the web.

3. Your Data & Deletion

You can create an account, which you'll either provide me with your email and create a password, or you can connect your google account to login. This data is stored in a secure database, and it is not sold or shared with any third parties.

Your logs are also stored in a secure database. You access it by logging in. I don't do anything with this data, it just sits there until you request it. If you want me to delete it, you can ask me directly.

At the time of writing, there is no self-serve "Delete My Account" button.

The data you enter is stored in a secure database, but I currently do not have a feature built that allows you to wipe your history or delete your account instantly.

How I use it: I don't. I am not selling your data. I am not mining your data. It sits in the database so that when you log back in, your history is there. That's it.

4. The "Bus Factor" (Abandonment Policy)

Because I am a single grieving developer and not a company, there is a risk that life happens.

  • I might abandon this project.
  • I might stop paying the server bills.
  • I might die.

In any of these scenarios, your data might remain on the servers indefinitely (or until the hosting provider wipes it), or the site might simply disappear one day. By using this app, you acknowledge that this is a hobbyist project and not a permanent digital vault.

5. Contact

If you have a critical issue, you can try to reach me by shouting "SJ" really really loud or saying my name in front of the mirror three times. Or email sj@crapacity.today.

Not enough?

I'm not sure what other information you need in a privacy statement. The cookies are to see if things are broken or if people are using the site (google analytics). I can't create a grief log for you unless you give me a way to store your data securely (create an account) or enter data (your data). Otherwise, like, this is useless. I don't know what else google needs in a privacy policy either, I feel like this is very clearly laying out each of the different types of data I collect, how they're handled, and what I do with them. You can email me if you have more questions I guess. Or you can choose not to use this site, which is totally an available option for you, my dude.
